Roger Daltrey, frontman of the Who, has partnered with the Teenage Cancer Trust since 2000 to raise over $32 million in support of their cause. However, in an interview with the Times at the beginning of this year, in January, Roger doubted the foundation’s intentions along with others when he stated, “I don’t think they’ll ever find a cure for cancer. I don’t think they want to find a cure. I’m being cynical here, but scientists look after the science, but they also look after themselves. You do imagine if they did find a cure tomorrow, it would be fabulous for the country, but there’d be an awful lot of scientists out of work.”

Interestingly enough, the Times framed this quote with a preceding paragraph suggesting that sometimes Roger teeters in conspiracy. If this is true, then why does cancer generate billions of dollars in revenue per year? Is it possible that this profit has become an incentive for hospitals, doctors, and scientists to delay cancer’s effects rather than find a cure? According to Roger Daltrey, who has raised tens of millions of dollars for cancer over two-plus decades, this could very well be true.
